All Faces Weekend

Aug 02

quote

Paul Westerberg: I went to the [Faces] show with my buddy, Bob Waterman. We were in 10th grade. November. It was cold; a day like today. I was in front of Woody [Ron Wood], about three deep. I had a girl on my shoulders. I was this geeky 15-year-old boy, never been kissed, and in three minutes I had this chick on my shoulders—probably in a halter top! I was like, “Yeah! This is great!”

Marc Perlman: Paul went to the same Faces concert I did. I was pretty young and I’m fairly sure Paul was, too. If you’ve ever seen the way the Faces make an auditorium seem like a pub, you’d understand why I bring this up.

From The Replacements: All Over but the Shouting: An Oral History by Jim Walsh

Paul Westerberg of The Replacements and Marc Perlman of The Jayhawks describe their experiences at the 1975 Faces show in Minneapolis. Now, the internet is a little foggy on this, but that November 1st show may have been the last with Rod Stewart.
